Rueda

Rueda was the first region of Castlla y Leon to obtain Denomination of Origin status. It specialises in making high quality white wines, often for export, however the area also produces a select selection of red and rosé wines. Rueda DO is located within the region of Castilla y Leon and is comprised of 74 villages and towns. Within the D.O there are many different styles of wine, and these styles each get their own back label. The region is specialised in making white wine and in the preservation and development of the Verdejo grape, the indigenous grape variety. This grape marks the wines with a strong character . It has also been incorporated with Sauvignon Blanc, viura and Palomino Fino, which manage to survive in a tough, almost hostile, enviornment in order to give their best wine. The climate in Rueda is continental. One can expect long hot summers (Up to 30ºC) but extremely cold winters (-1ºC).
