Exciting New Releases at Celtic Whiskey Shop
We always love chatting all things whisk(e)y here at Celtic Whiskey Shop! And when we’re asked what exciting new releases there have been the past while, we couldn’t help but put together this list to share some of these exciting whiskeys you may have missed. From Bushmills 30 Year Old, a stunning Macallan release, to perhaps the finest most special Celtic Cask release yet- the 31 year old Celtic Cask 46, we have something to cater to everyone’s taste. But with that introduction out of the way, let’s get on to the whisk(e)y!
We couldn’t help but open this blog with one of our own! This exceptional single malt is one of our proudest achievements in our Celtic Cask series so far and marks the start of the final chapter of Celtic Whiskey Shop's highly aged single malts from this distillery and also those from the 1990s (a decade that has become synonymous with quality and uniqueness). This whiskey has aged initially in a refill ex-Bourbon cask then transferred into Quinta do Noval port for 9 years. Rich and complex, this is one you don’t want to miss! Limited to just 176 bottles and bottled at cask strength this is certainly a whiskey that won't be long selling out. Please note that the wooden boxes are sold separately.

Next in our list is a big one from Bushmills and the pinnacle of what ageing in oak can bring to an Irish single malt whiskey. Bushmills 30 Year Old Single Malt was patiently matured in bourbon barrels and sherry butts for 14 years, before receiving a special finishing in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for 16 years. On the palate, this stellar release is velvety and smooth with hints of dates and figs, followed by praline and orange peel, developing into warm vanilla and pastry notes. It doesn’t get much more complex than this. Only 1500 bottles released!

This small batch bottling marks the fourth release of our The Celt Irish Whiskey series! This triple distilled, heavily peated single malt was distilled in May 2016 and initially matured in first fill bourbon casks. The spirit then received a finishing in Marsala casks from the Martinez winery. Unchillfiltered and natural colour. As with other releases, the focus on this one is to be enjoyed with friends and family!

A superb addition to the Dunville’s core range, Dunville’s Oloroso is an exciting 20 Year Old Single Malt that picked up Best Irish Single Malt 16 Years and Older at the Irish Whiskey Awards 2022. The quality of the Oloroso casks truly takes centre stage with this expression. Balanced and complex, viscous, well-structured, and restrained. Be sure not to miss out on this exciting expression!

Up next is the stunning second edition in Macallan's limited annual release series. This very special single malt draws its inspiration from Ethiopian Arabica beans and is bound to be a hit with whisky drinkers and coffee drinkers alike. Ethiopia is claimed to be the birthplace of coffee as the Arabica bean was the first species of coffee to be cultivated. On the palate, this single malt elegantly exudes flavours of sweet oak, tiramisu, and dark chocolate. An incredible whisky that’s noted for providing a delightful coffee pairing experience.

The 2023 vintage of Writers Tears Cask Strength is here at last! This release is limited to 8,700 bottles globally, and as always, each bottle is individually numbered and carries the signature of Writers’ Tears creator – Bernard Walsh. This wonderful triple-distilled cask strength whiskey is made from a premium blend of aged Single Pot Still, beautifully balanced by aged Single Malt. Offers an enticing palate of salted caramel-dipped almonds, sweet floral notes, roasted hazelnuts. If you’re a fan of Writers Tears or Irish Whiskey in general, then this is one you must try!

The 15th annual release of the Irishman's cask strength Irish whiskey! Hand-selected by The Irishman’s founder, Bernard Walsh, this exceptional expression is a marriage of triple-distilled aged Single Malt and aged Single Pot Still whiskey and matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels. Non-chill-filtered and bottled at 55.3% ABV. Limited to 8,400 bottles worldwide.
