Red Spot Single Cask 19 Year Old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey – a rare, limited edition with only 603 bottles available. Steeped in tradition, this remarkable release honors the Mitchell family’s original vision and marks a new milestone for the Red Spot range.
The presentation canister, adorned with intricate gilt filigree, reflects the rich history and craftsmanship of this exceptional whiskey. Initially matured in Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks for four years, it was then recasked into a 500-litre Marsala butt on December 10, 2008, to develop a rich, complex finish. Cask No. 217213, crafted from American white oak by Antonio Paez in Jerez and seasoned with Marsala Superiore made from Grillo and Catarratto grapes, delivers luscious aromas of honey, figs, and dates. The cask was emptied on March 7, 2024, and prepared for bottling at a robust cask strength of 58.5% ABV.
On the nose, it opens with rich, warming notes of stewed fruits, cinnamon, and a dusting of nutmeg, with earthy herbal nuances and tobacco leaf. The palate bursts with fresh apricot and cooked apple, accented by garden mint, crème brûlée, and honeycomb, culminating in a lingering finish of wine seasoning, spice, and gentle oak.

Tasting Notes from Celtic Whiskey Shop and Wines on the Green
Taste
Fruits to the fore with fresh apricot and cooked apple along with delicate herbal undertones of freshly picked garden mint. Sweet notes of crème brûlée and honeycomb give balance to the delicate oak tannins and robust pot still spices.
Nose
Opens with rich and warming notes of freshly stewed fruits with cinnamon and light dustings of nutmeg, while earthy and herbal aromas, accompanied by tobacco leaf, add further depth and complexity. The pot still spices are complemented by the Marsala wine seasoned oak, creating vibrant notes of liquorice and cracked walnut.
Finish
Lasting finish which sees the influence of the wine seasoning and pot still spices linger for a time while the oak is the first to gently fade.
