Boann "The Copper" Palo Cortado Solera
Boann chose to work with the solera method because it produces significantly different flavours with each vatting, offering layers of complexity that cannot be achieved through standard maturation. This style of cask proved hugely successful in the Cork Whiskey Fest release, demonstrating the distinctive results Palo Cortado solera casks can deliver.
Egg-shaped casks of this kind remain extremely rare and are among the first to be used within the Irish whiskey category. Their unique shape and solera heritage contribute directly to the whiskey’s individuality and depth.
Made from a traditional Single Pot Still mash bill, the whiskey displays subtle brininess, a dry and lightly salted character, gentle sweetness and an oily, viscous mouthfeel. Warm fruity notes round out the profile, bringing together both youthful vibrancy and the influence of its unusual cask maturation.
A rare and innovative expression that highlights the creative potential of solera-style maturation in Irish whiskey.
