Celtic Cask Seasca Cúig (65) 27 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask

Distilled in 1999, this exceptional double-distilled Irish single malt represents over a quarter of a century of patient maturation. Initially laid down in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, the whiskey spent nearly two decades developing remarkable depth and elegance, building layers of vanilla, honeyed malt, tropical fruits, and refined oak character.

To further enhance its complexity, the whiskey was transferred to a specially crafted 128-litre ex-Oloroso sherry cask. Uniquely, this cask was constructed from the broken staves of an ex-solera Oloroso sherry butt, allowing the spirit to interact with wood deeply seasoned by years of traditional sherry maturation. The smaller cask size accelerated the influence of the seasoned oak, imparting extraordinary richness and concentration while preserving the character of the mature spirit.

The result is a beautifully balanced single malt where the vibrant fruit and creamy sweetness of long bourbon cask maturation intertwine with the nutty, spicy, and dried fruit character of Oloroso sherry. Bottled from a single cask, this is a rare and distinguished expression showcasing the rewards of both extended aging and innovative cask management.
