Gaja Barbaresco

Angelo Gaja is not only a winemaker, but a visionary man who shaped the identity of modern Italian wine, putting Barbaresco on the map of the world’s finest wines. Born in 1940 into a winemaking family, he was one of the first to focus on single‑vineyard expressions, the use of new French oak barrels, and meticulous grape selection. Barbaresco 2019 is crafted from 100% hand‑harvested Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the estate’s 14 vineyards around the Barbaresco and Treiso communes. After separate fermentation and maceration of each parcel, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barriques and then a further 12 months in large oak casks before bottling; it typically spends additional time in bottle before release.
