Glenglassaugh

It is remarkable that Glenglassaugh still exists as a distillery. It was founded in 1875 and has been closed for long periods during its life, pretty much as often as it was open. It seemed to close for good in 1986 but was rescued by the Scaent group who spent a lot of time and money restoring the place only to sell it to the consortuim who own Benriach and Glendronach. The newest owners seem like a safe pair of hands to move the distillery forward. However there is not a lot of mature stock and it will be some time before the more recent spirit is mature. There are two stills and it has a capicity of 1,100,000L per year.
