Cardhu

Founded in 1824 by John Cumming as the 'Cardow' distillery. During the early 1960s it was first bottled as a single malt which at the time was a bit of a novely! The distillery is situated near Aberlour in the heart of Speyside and operated 6 pot stills and it owned by Diageo. Just don't mention Cardhu Pure Malt, that was a brief flirt with renaming and rebranding the whisky whilst turning it into a blended malt. One of those occasions when the marketing wizards let their egos and greed get the better of them. Thankfully it's all business as usual again at Cardhu.
