To commemorate the 1915 birth of the inimitable Jack Ryan, Dublin publican and whiskey finisher, the Ryan family, who have run the Beggars Bush Pub on Haddington Road since 1913, has released a limited edition 15 year old cask strength (57.5% ABV) single malt - The Centenary Jack Ryan.
Matured in ex-bourbon casks, The Centenary Jack Ryan 15 Year Old Single Malt is limited to 500 bottles worldwide, each signed and numbered by Eunan Ryan, latest scion of the Dublin whiskey family. The first 100 bottles are available exclusively to the Irish market.
The Jack Ryan Whiskey Company has revived the “Ryan’s Malt” family tradition, started by Thomas, Jack’s father, of commissioning and finishing premium Irish malt. Already, their Jack Ryan 12 Year Old Single Malt has been really well received, re-establishing the quality of the Jack Ryan brand and garnering the 2014 Irish Whiskey Award for Single Malts 12 Years or younger.
“Ryan’s Malt” was a serious local favourite for decades in the Beggars Bush and the other Ryan licensed premises (The 51, The Quay House, The Coach and Horses). The current generation of Ryans is back with a bang in the whiskey business, and buoyed by their success to date, plans further annual limited batches of premium single malt whiskey.
“This 15 year old malt is a distinctive product with a smooth texture and uncompromised taste notes, providing a truly special gift for any discerning whiskey lover” says Eunan Ryan, Director, and son. “Its distinct pale gold colour, fruity aroma and flavours and spicy, oak-infused finish are those of a premium whiskey. Jack would have approved and been proud”.
