Independent Irish Bottlings
The current renaissance in Irish whiskey has seen the emergence of some exciting new whiskey brands from independent bottlers and producers. Most of these source their whiskeys from established distilleries but many of them also have plans to make their own. Some of the work has already been started; distillers such as Dingle, Echlinville, Alltech, Teeling, Glendalough and Tullamore Dew have completed their new distilleries. Dingle was the first to get started up and already have some maturing stock that we can all look forward to.
It is hard to keep track of all the new plans but it is safe to say that in a few years there should be 15 or more operational distilleries on the island. Expect to hear news from Slane, Walsh’s Distillery, Carlow Brewing and many more. All this means that there will soon be a lot more choice and diversity for whiskey drinkers. That has to be a good thing!
