Gewurztraminer
Gewürztraminer is an aromatic grape variety that performs best in cooler climates. It is used in the production of white wines. Hailing from Germny, it is occasionally referred to colloquially as Gewürz. In french it is wriiten as 'Gewurztraminer' without the umlaut. It is an aromatic grape variety, similar to Muscat, Riesling or Torrontés Aromas of Grapefruit, lychee and pineapple are strongly associated with this variety. It usually has a little residual sugar making it sweet, but it is the heightened aromatics, higher alcohol and lower acidity that contributes to making Gewürz tasting sweeter than it actually is.
